Event Description
Join us and spend the morning at our emergency tortoise habitat trimming plants and tidying the enclosures in preparation for the tortoise's active season!
The work includes general labor and maintenance to include cutting back vegetation, weeding, shoveling dirt on to burrows, cleaning up the shed, etc.
Tortoise Group will provide water and snacks!
As the habitat is on private property and we don't want too many cars parking at the property, we will meet before 9am at the Albertsons parking lot at 7151 W. Craig Road (park near Popeyes) and carpool over to the habitat at 9am.
This is a great opportunity for both new and returning volunteers to get outside and spend some time learning about captive tortoise husbandry!
We will also be providing a brief training on volunteering for our weekly emergency habitat events that take place during the summer. These events include weekly visits to the emergency habitat to assist with feeding, watering and caring for our adoptable tortoise population.
